Accessibility & Open Access Statement
Purpose: Explain CJCS & AIs open access model, article processing charges (APCs), and licensing terms. This page also reinforces compliance with open science mandates and indexing (e.g. many funders require CC licenses).
Content and Elements:
- Open Access Statement: Clearly state that CJCS & AI is a fully open-access journal. For example: “All articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Readers worldwide can read, download, and share the work with proper attribution. This aligns with DOAJ principles and funder requirements.”
- Benefits of Open Access: Bullet-list the advantages: free to read, increased citations, author rights, compliance with mandates.
- Article Processing Charges (APCs): If CJCS & AI charges fees, provide details (see next section for Fees & Waivers). If none, clearly state “no fees for authors” (very favorable for indexing). If charging, justify: to cover editorial and production costs. Reiterate that no charge is collected unless the paper is accepted.
- Licensing: Emphasize CC BY 4.0 allows reuse with attribution. State authors retain copyright, but grant CJCS & AI the right to publish
- Archiving: Mention any digital archiving policy (e.g. CLOCKSS, Portico, or institutional repository). For example: “CJCS & AI content is permanently archived in [Repository], ensuring long-term access.” Also note if articles are deposited in national/international archives.
- Indexing: Reassure that open access content ensures broad discoverability. Possibly note submission to DOAJ (pending) and indexing goals, referencing [59].
Sample Wording:
- “License: All articles are distributed under the CC BY 4.0 license. Authors retain copyright but permit reuse of their work.”
- “Access: New issues are made available immediately on our website with no subscription required. We comply with open-access mandates and provide free global access.”
Include a short table or bullet list of open access benefits:
- Free to read worldwide.
- Authors keep copyright, receive attribution.
- Faster dissemination and citation impact.
- Meets funder mandates (compliant with COPE’s emphasis on openness).
Scopus/WoS Notes: Having a clear open-access policy with CC license is viewed positively by indexers (DOAJ requires this transparency). Mentioning indexing in open directories and no embargo demonstrates commitment to visibility.
