Data and Reproduction Policy

Data and Reproduction Policy

Purpose: Address data sharing and reproducibility, reflecting modern best practices.

Content and Elements:

  • Data Availability: Require a statement in each article about data availability (e.g. “The data supporting the findings of this study are available in [repository] at [DOI].”). Encourage deposition of datasets in public repositories (e.g. Zenodo, Figshare, domain-specific archives).
  • Code and Materials: For computational research, recommend sharing code (e.g. via GitHub) and algorithms where possible.
  • Supplementary Files: Indicate how to submit supplementary data, code or appendices during submission.
  • Reproducibility Encouragement: Mention that reproducibility and transparency are valued. Possibly adopt guidelines like CARE or FAIR.
  • Exceptions: If privacy or proprietary data prevent sharing, authors should explain in the statement.

Sample Wording: “CJCS & AI encourages authors to share the data and code underlying their results. Each article must include a Data Availability Statement. Wherever possible, authors should deposit data in a public repository and provide the DOI or accession number. This aligns with COPE’s advocacy for data transparency.”
